Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deceit coming next holiday. Can I get a y-a-y?

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deceit coming next holiday. Can I get a y-a-y?

So after months of Microsoft saying “Pricing hasn’t been announced for Kinect, it may not be $149”, it’s just been announced at….$149. What the fuck? So after people said that $149 was too much you still went ahead and priced it that anyway?

Even worse is the UK pricing, £130. You can get an Arcade Xbox 360 for less than that. And Sony’s Move bundle is only £50. I don’t see this working out well for Microsoft.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I finally managed to finish Uncharted 2 tonight and I’m glad I re-rented it cos it was a fantastic game. I originally had it back in January and then a couple good 360 games came out so I sent it back after only playing about an hours worth. Now that the typical summer game drought has set in I’m revisiting some games I missed back when they first came out, this being one of them I can cross off my list.

I really hope number three manages to continue the great storytelling mixed with adventure and action and since it’s being done by the same studio I can’t see why it won’t.

E3

E3 is upon us! For those not in the know E3 is a week-long entertainment expo where all the big names in the games industry show off their games and wares coming out over the next year. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all use it as platform to showcase why their console is the best of the lot.

Microsoft showed off their new motion tracking peripheral Kinect which will allow people to play games without using a controller. It looks pretty cool but I think it’s only gonna work with simple games which don’t interest me. A cool aspect of it is that it allows you to navigate menus and such with either voice or gestures. Very Minority Report. In terms of games the ones I am most looking forward to is of course Halo: Reach but it’s followed closely by Gears of War. I loved the first two Gears games and I’m interested to see how it’ll end. Unfortunately Microsoft spent most of the rest of the time showing off their Kinect games and yet it didn’t even get priced. Not a smart move. And instead of announcing the price they decided instead to reveal a new remodelled Xbox 360, something that doesn’t seem at all necessary.

Sony did pretty much the same thing as Microsoft and hyped up their motion controller Move which is rather like the Wii controls. It had more advanced games than Kinect and is being implemented in games like Killzone 3 and SOCOM which are FPSes. Apart from Kinect Sony also had a lot more games on show and I think my most anticipated FPS is not Reach but Killzone 3. I loved Killzone 2 and can’t wait to play the next chapter early next year. Sony also one-upped Microsoft by announcing the price of Move: $49.99 and $29.99. I don’t see Kinect coming in at less than this.

Nintendo I have no interest in and as such didn’t pay much attention to. I think they’re just mostly doing rehashes of their regular characters. Oh and a remake of Goldeneye but with Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan. Cos that won’t suck at all.
