Hallowed Ground

Last week I read a couple articles about how a mosque was being built near Ground Zero in New York. Why is this news I thought? Are we ushering in a new era of tolerance and actually celebrating the building of a religious building by a faith other tha….oh wait no.

Apparently this is a bad thing. An “intolerable and tragic mistake” according to Sarah Palin, who of course made full use of the opportunity to forward her “career”. This is “hallowed ground” she says.

Does that mean only white Americans should be allowed to build things there? Why not straight, white, Republican Americans and then you can create your own little shrine around Ground Zero to what it means to be a true American, right Sarah?

Allowing this woman (and the others) to stop this mosque being built will be allowing the terrorists who killed all those people to win. They want to to destroy your freedom, your freedom to be whatever you want to be, your freedom to be American in anyway you see fit.

Islam and terrorism are not one and the same. Yes most terrorists in the world do come from the Middle East and are followers of Islam but they have twisted it to suit their means. How naughty of them right? Christians and Catholics would never, ever do that now would they?

But I’m getting off track, my original intention for this post was to show this article which highlights just how unhallowed that ground is. People living around it likely don’t give a shit and have seen it all. There’s probably more ethnicities and religions in New York than in anywhere else in the world, one more isn’t going to bring about the apocalypse.

Oh and just wait til this goes ahead and the Repubs use it to show how anti-American Obama is.
