We are all Canucks

One of the things I’m gonna miss about Canada when I go home to Scotland is watching hockey. When I got here last year the first time I saw a hockey game was when Tim and I went out to dinner at a place called Montana’s where you get your drinks in jars.

While we were eating there was a hockey game on in the background and I started watching it. I didn’t have a clue who was playing or what was happening but I enjoyed watching it.

Cut to a few months later and I kept getting asked if I liked hockey and I’d say no but here in Canada hockey is HUGE and you can’t help but get sucked in.

Turns out I actually really like it. I’ve never been a sports fan, I’ve never followed a team passionately but when I sit down to watch a game I actually want these guys to win. I know the players, I shout at the TV, I plan my night around watching a game. Have I been dressing like a lesbian so much that I’ve swung all the way around and come back a straight man?

When I go home I’m gonna miss getting to watch the games live, I’ll be able to watch recaps of the games on YouTube but it won’t be the same. Luckily I have my Canucks iPhone app to keep me appraised of scores.
